Let me start off like this: OH MY GOODNESS. I can not WAIT for this game. Yes, I preordered it. The only Battlefield that I ever had the privilege of playing was Battlefield 2, but I heard some hype about Bad Company 2 , so I thought, “What the heck. I’ll Google it.”

Turns out, that was a very good idea. Some of the features in this First-Person Shooter are hard to express in words. And I’m not exaggerating.

Anyways, in case you don’t know about the Battlefield series of games, they are shooters based on large team warfare. Hence the name “Battlefield.” The maps are massive compared to a game like Modern Warfare 2. But they force a player to rely more on their team and less on themself. For example, in Halo, or Call of Duty, you are a lone soldier. However, in Battlefield games, every player is a key component in their team, making each game a tactical battle.  One of the major reasons for this is the class system.

There are 4 classes, and I’ll run through them real quick:

Medic: Heal and revive your teammates.

Assault: Basically a soldier-type class.

Recon: Essentially your sniper class.

Engineer: Repair vehicles.

Speaking of vehicles… Bad Company 2 is packing in 15 vehicles for land, sea, and air. Tanks, ATVs, Helicopters, name it. This was a big factor for me, although not the biggest. I love having diversity in games. When EVERYONE races to get to the tank, well, it becomes less of a free-for-all and more of a juggernaut.  But each and every vehicles has it’s own advantages and disadvantages. Tanks are not overpowered, nor are helicopters.

The biggest thing the WOWed me while looking into this game (Yes, I just said wowed, please don’t disassociate me from everything ever…) is the destructible environment. In short, if a wall is in your way, pshhh, just blow it up! My favorite was seeing C4s planted in a building and having the 4 enemies charge in, while the soldier simply detonated the charges from a save distance. The building collapsed. Yes, it fell down, boom, shackalacka, the building died (See? It was worth saying “wowed.”). So, basically, there are no more super-walls. Walls, and buildings, can be destroyed just like in reality.

Needless to say, BFBC2 is built for multiplayer. However, they do feature a single-player campaign that, from what I’ve seen and read, features the same hilarious and very unique characters as the first Bad Company.

Overall, I am VERY excited for BFBC2. It has been TOO LONG since I played a good PC FPS(Hence the Combat Arms review…).
